Quality oriental rugs are designed to be washed, completely submerged, thoroughly rinsed, and dried in controlled environments. This traditional method has been used for centuries, and we continue to follow it. On-site extraction cleaning suits wall-to-wall carpet. For an oriental rug, it barely scratches the surface.
At our facility in Humble we dust every rug first (this alone removes pounds of soil on an older piece), do a fiber ID and color-fastness check, then wash the rug in its own bath with fiber-appropriate chemistry. We run multiple rinse cycles until the water runs clear. We dry under controlled conditions to safeguard fibers, dyes, and shape.

This is what actually happens to your rug once it arrives at our facility — dusting, wash, rinse, dry, inspect.
Every rug goes through the same six steps. The chemistry and dwell time change with the fiber — the sequence doesn't.
We identify the fiber (wool, silk, cotton, synthetic), note construction (hand-knotted, hand-tufted, flatweave, machine-made), and run a discreet color-fastness test to check for dye-bleed risk. All existing damage gets noted and recorded with photographs.
Hands down the most-overlooked step in rug cleaning, yet also the most critical. A rug can trap significant amounts of invisible soil invisible to the eye. When moisture reaches that soil, it transforms into mud within the fibers. We extract all of it before water touches the rug.
The rug goes into its own wash bath with a fiber-appropriate cleaning solution. Careful agitation draws embedded soil, oils, and allergens from the pile itself, going beyond surface-level cleaning. This is the method rugs should be cleaned with.
Repeated rinses flush out every bit of cleaning solution and suspended soil. Residue-free results keep the rug looking fresher over time.
The rug dries in a controlled drying space in our facility, with conditions monitored to protect the fibers, dyes, and the rug's shape. Fringe gets hand-finished separately: it's cotton on most rugs and requires different care than the wool pile.
Once dry, every rug is re-inspected in daylight. We groom the pile, recheck for residual staining, and apply optional fiber protector if you've chosen it. Then it's wrapped and returned via scheduled delivery, depending on your preference.
Removing pet urine from a rug is more challenging than virtually any other cleaning task, and this is why so many people choose professional cleaning over tackling it themselves. We run the same source-first process as our pet odor treatment, but with a key advantage: when a rug can withstand multiple wash cycles, we complete however many cycles the restoration requires. For severe cases, see our pet odor treatment.
We come to you, roll the rug, and bring it back to the facility. When it's done we deliver it back, usually within a couple weeks depending on the size and the work required. No lifting furniture, no moving rugs yourself.
Prefer to drop off yourself? Bring the rug to our Humble facility during regular business hours and we'll take it from there. Same process, same guarantee.
Once your rug is clean, the fibers are open and free of residue, ready to accept a fiber protector. It adheres to individual fibers to form a protective shield that buys you precious moments to address spills before they penetrate.
Ask about protector when you book — we'll quote it as an optional add-on, no pressure.
