Quality oriental rugs are designed to be washed, completely submerged, thoroughly rinsed, and dried in controlled environments. That's how they've been cleaned for hundreds of years, and it's how we still do it. On-site extraction is effective for wall-to-wall carpet. For an oriental rug, this approach only addresses the surface.
At our facility in Humble we begin with dusting each rug (a step that alone eliminates pounds of soil from aged pieces), perform a fiber ID and color-fastness check, and then wash the rug in a dedicated bath with fiber-appropriate chemistry. We run multiple rinse cycles until the water runs clear. Controlled drying protects fibers, dyes, and shape.

This is what actually happens to your rug once it arrives at our facility — dusting, wash, rinse, dry, inspect.
Every rug goes through the same six steps. The chemistry and dwell time change with the fiber — the sequence doesn't.
We identify the fiber (wool, silk, cotton, synthetic), note construction (hand-knotted, hand-tufted, flatweave, machine-made), and run a discreet color-fastness test to evaluate color stability concerns. All existing damage gets noted and recorded with photographs.
Without question the most-skipped step in rug cleaning, and the most vital. A rug can trap pounds of dirt that remains hidden. When moisture reaches that soil, it transforms into mud within the fibers. We remove every bit of it before water touches the rug.
The rug goes into its own wash bath with a fiber-suitable cleaning solution. Soft, controlled agitation removes embedded soil, oils, and allergens from deep within the pile rather than just the surface. This is how rugs are meant to be cleaned.
Successive rinses remove all cleaning solution plus the suspended soil, with rinsing continuing until the water runs clean. No residue left behind means your rug stays cleaner for longer.
The rug dries in our facility's climate-controlled environment, with conditions monitored to preserve the fibers, dyes, and the rug's shape. Fringe gets hand-detailed separately: it's cotton on most rugs and requires different care than the wool pile.
Once dry, every rug is inspected again in natural light. We groom the pile, recheck for residual staining, and apply optional fiber protector if you've chosen it. Then it's wrapped and returned, ready for pickup, or available for pickup at your convenience.
Pet urine is the hardest substance to remove from a rug, and this is why so many people choose professional cleaning over tackling it themselves. We run the same source-first process as our pet odor treatment, but with a key advantage: if the rug can safely take multiple wash cycles, we do as many as the job needs. For severe cases, see our pet odor treatment.
We come to you, roll the rug, and bring it back to the facility. When it's done we deliver it back, usually within a couple weeks depending on the size and the work required. No lifting furniture, no moving rugs yourself.
Prefer to drop off yourself? Bring the rug to our Humble facility during regular business hours and we'll take it from there. Same process, same guarantee.
Once your rug is clean, the fibers are open and cleared of buildup, ready to accept a fiber protector. It bonds to each fiber and creates an invisible barrier that buys you precious moments to address spills before they penetrate.
Ask about protector when you book — we'll quote it as an optional add-on, no pressure.

Typically, you can expect a turnaround of around one to two weeks from pickup to delivery. Pet urine jobs that need multiple wash cycles can take a little longer. We'll give you an honest, realistic timeline when we pick up. We won't provide an unrealistic timeline that cuts corners on drying time.
